Honestly, I was never thrilled about the Toffoli deal in the first place. For how tight to the cap this was going to be, adding his salary without retention never made sense to me. Throw in his underwhelming finish to an already slow and soft style and I don’t think there’s a fit for him on this roster.
His high end finishing prowess all but disappeared with his 2 goals in his final 22 games. Really disappointed with his game in the playoffs given his pedigree, 1 even strength point just isn’t going to cut it. His asset cost is what it is, freeing up the cap space is more important at this point.
