What are people's thoughts on non all-inclusive Mexico trips/hotels? I've only ever been to AI resorts but I'm considering a Mazatlan hotel that is on the beach but not AI. It is in the "golden zone" zona dorada which seems to have all sorts of amenities but I'm not sure what safety is like there.
