We have a county of just over 1 million eligible voters. To date, about 226000 mail in ballots have been returned, which is half of the number that were requested. Early voting polls opened at 7 am today, and so far, almost 6000 votes have been cast in those few hours. Wait times at polling stations are now approaching 2 hours in some places, yet people continue to show up on a rainy day. People seem very, very motivated to vote here. Already near a 23% turnout.

Ain't democracy grand?
Out of curiosity, do you live in an affluent and/or predominantly white area? Do you know if the voting process in poorer areas with mostly minority populations is similar to your experience above?
