I think there is a greater-than 50% chance that Chabot is an All Star this year. (That is to say, he will probably play in the ASG. Who else would Ottawa send?) He is 22-years-old, and was the tenth-highest scoring defenseman in the NHL in his second season. He was his team's #3 highest scoring player, and the top two are playing elsewhere this year.
Of course, there is a risk with this contract, but I think it is a calculated one, and one that the Senators should take.
