Our school sent an email on Friday alerting parents to a "Respiratory Outbreak", without specifying RSV, COVID, Flu or otherwise. Our kids have been on again / off again sick for a couple of weeks and we knew something was up... A few weeks ago for class picture day, 60% of the class was out sick!
My wife was at the Dr. today (unrelated), and was told the consensus among Drs (according to hers) is this there is a lot of COVID variants out there right now, going undetected with false negatives, etc. That, combined with the "immunity debt" mentioned in Fuzz's links means that everyone is going to be sick this winter. A lot.
