Elliott Friedman was just on SN960 with Pat Steinberg talking about this trade:
· He says that a one-for-one deal was essentially on the table already at the draft featuring Dubios and Laine, but CBJ wanted Roslovic included which held things up.
· The delay was in hopes that CBJ could convince Dubois to stay, but the Friday game eliminated any possibility of that.
· Calgary was never very close; based on what I heard it sound like CBJ's target from the Flames was Tkachuk, and that Calgary was offering Gaudreau. (But bear in mind, it was difficult to gauge whether these were actual pitches, or if this was only Friedman's speculation.)
