If you're training someone to go to a far away land, you want to make the buildings as accurate as possible so its easy to identify them quickly. If they're training for Afghanistan for example the predominant structure is going to be a mosque. If we're training to attack the Russians, you'd probably build a Russian church with accurate markings.
This isn't about some kind of anti-religion or racist desire, its about making the battlefield simulation as accurate as possible to speed up decision making and avoid mistakes.
