trying to trade Connor Brown was one of the more interesting experiences I've had. I thought I'd have no trouble moving him, given that he has been a reliable player in Ottawa for a few years now, re-rated well and is still RFA aged. Yet, I talked to 5 or 6 different GMs over the past few weeks and, in a nutshell, they all had the same answer: "I really like him and want to add him, but ..."

I really like him too, but I just have too many wingers and at some point needed to move resources to different positions. I wanted a late 1st or early 2nd for him and couldn't bring one in ahead of the draft, but in the end, I am happy with adding a solid defenseman that I like plus a decent pick, albeit in a future draft.
