How does another top 6 center keep our top line together? We have bottom 6 centers Mark Jankowski, Derek Ryan, Dillon Dube, and in a pinch Austin Czarnik. What the hell do we need Duchene for? We're one of the top scoring teams in the league BTW.

This doesn't even address the issues Duchene has had everywhere he's gone. He's rarely ever been part of a winning team, and most times his teams are in the basement of the league. He was a malcontent in Colorado, and as soon as he leaves they're good. He goes to Ottawa and they're suddenly one of the worst teams in the league. He puts up points, but does little else to actually win games. He's a guy I'd stay far away from.
Jankowski is not a good 3rd line centre at all. At the bare minimum we need someone to step up for that. If Lindholm moves too centre suddenly our right wing depth is bad again.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Duchane-Neal
Bennett-Backlund-Frolik

Thats an awesome top 9 that can maybe make some noise in the playoffs but its a moot point because we cant afford to re-sign Duchane anyways with Tkachuk also coming up. Maybe as a rental that would be an idea though.
