as a white yankee carpetbagger that lived for several years in a majority black community in south carolina, i must say i can't imagine anyone having such an opinion. seems totally absurd.
OT: Be ready to spend a lot of time on desolate highways getting to places. The couple of times I have been through that way, I only remember the desolation. Going from Birmingham up to Memphis is terribly boring.
