Very untrue. The Flames signed Czarnik to a cheap two-year deal; they signed Versteeg to a cheap one-year deal (which was very successful); they signed Jagr to a cheap one-year deal (which was unsuccessful but could have gone either way); and they signed Chad Johnson to a cheap one-year deal.
There is plenty of precedent suggesting that the Flames could get a useful, cheap utility player to replace Frolik. I think Pirri could be an ideal target.
