This. If you have the time. My mom gets red light tickets (several, over the years) reduced by at least half by going to the courthouse. But she's over 80 and says she's on a pension and so very sorry - YMMV.
Also, if you have a dashcam - maybe the double yellow lines were not so obvious due to snow or glare. It might be worthwhile to check the recording.
