LaFontaine is already 24 years-old and was drafted by the Canes in 2016. He was in the middle of his 5th NCAA season (because of COVID, players were allowed to extend their eligibility by a year). He also left college for a year in 2018-19 to play in the BCHL and keep his NCAA eligibility.
He played for Minnesota last night in a 6-3 win over Michigan State, so it would seem like this was a very sudden decision on his part. |
Believe I saw he had played every game for his college team. So they are really left in the lurch.
