Well it depends on the artist, many just perform as DJs, some take it to a more of a performance art like say Daft Punk who rarely performs but when they do its quite something.
Ultimately the EDM is about just seeing your hero on stage, everyone is there to celebrate their music and have fun, just like any concert.
But at its core, its a DJ show, and I hope people that don't like this style of music understand that creating great music is still an Art, Avicii certainly qualifies as a talented artist.
