I have a friend that would like to be able to control their TV and stuff via voice Alexa or Google Home.

As long as the device is IR is all I need an IR blaster like this?

It seems the newer Shaw boxes don't use IR but he has MS and isn't able to press any remote button so hopefully he's got an older box.

Anything else I need?
