It’s something to take into account, not a deal breaker.
But, it would be a LOT more money, and likely would mean that the south line wouldn’t be connected to the rest of the LRT system for at least a year (almost certainly more), and have no Erlton or Stampede stations for that time frame.
Either the Big 4 (permanently) or Macleod Trail (during construction) would have to be out of service.

Not the station, I think. All of the lines are underground at some point, but a station underground is a different kettle of fish. I only know of one and that's on high ground (Westbrook).
