Trade it?
Set it up so it's dead easy to deploy, post it in the buy and sell forum and see if anyone is willing to trade you something of value for it.
Ask around to see if any friends could use a NAS/Media server but aren't willing to pony up the fees for a brand new one. Offer to trade it for some stuff of theirs that has more value to you than the computer. If feels less weird than trying to sell it to some stranger and it's less of a waste than collecting dust or donating it.
In the past, I've wiped older computers/laptops and if not cash, I've traded them for things like bottles of alcohol, other computers, electronics, collectibles, games, manual labour etc.
