Yeah, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Disney basically keeps the X-Men Universe and the MCU separate for movies and tv. The Fantastic 4 could definitely use an MCU reboot.
That said, depending on the timing of the merger, it would be a pretty cool post-credits scene in the next Avengers movie to just end it with a shot from behind of a muscular man standing alone. Then, slowly, blades emerge from his fist.
