Incorrect. There are only three situations that allow for a player to be sent to the AHL after the NHL trade deadline.
  • Players who were recalled from the AHL after the trade deadline. This is why the Flames did the paper transactions with Rittich and Gillies.

  • Players who were on a recall from the AHL and were injured at the time of the trade deadline. These players can be sent down (with the player's consent) once they are medically cleared to play if they have spent less than 25% of the season in the NHL prior to their injury. Hrivik falls into this category.

  • Players who are recovering from a long term injury may be sent down on a Conditioning Loan to not exceed 6 days or 3 games. To be eligible for this, a player must have been injured a minimum of 24 days and missed 10 games.


Glass doesn't fit into any of these categories.
