Yeah, a lot of people get caught in the trap prioritizing the "look good" side of things above all else. As I often tell the people I work with (clients and colleagues alike), it doesn't matter if it looks good -- if it doesn't work, it won't do you much good. Of course, looking good is still important, since you want to give a professional impression, and you want to appear trustworthy, etc. But never at the expense of actually helping people meet their goals and needs.
