For a 3 hour film it sure seemed rushed. Everything just moved so quickly, and IMO there was too much levity. I think what I was most disappointed about was Captain Marvel's limited use in the film. I was really looking forward to seeing that character interact more, and I was left wanting more when she faced off with Thanos.
Speaking of Thanos, I felt they really undid a lot of the work they had done on the character in the first film. I get that it's part of the time shift and the character from the past wouldn't have been as developed, but he just felt hollow. And he wasn't nearly as imposing.
Favorite parts were Captain wheeling the hammer, Spider-Man's entrance, Dr. Strange giving Tony the indication they were in the optimal timeline, and the set-up for a Thor + GOTG film (that's going to be fantastic). However, the best part was seeing Captain sitting on the bench and knowing that he went back to live the life he lost. That got me right in the feels.
Tony Stark's death was really well done. It felt so gritty and real. I had a feeling it was coming, so it didn't hit me as much as some of the other stuff. The entire theatre was filled with the sound of sniffles during the funeral scene.
On the other hand, Romanoff's death had no impact at all. Maybe the character needed her own standalone film, I don't know. Just didn't have the weight it probably should have. Reading some reviews this morning it seems I'm not the only one that feels they failed that character in the film.
I'm surprised there weren't more character exits in the end, actually. Final tally ends up being Vision, Black Widow, Loki, and Iron Man. I guess Captain America too, in a way. Did I miss anyone?
Not as incredible as Infinity War, and not as satisfying as I had hoped, but still a damn good finale to this phase of the MCU films.
