The one thing they did that surprised me was play the "you don't need to be bitten to turn" angle with the drug dealer dood and I'm assuming the old timer. Clearly the entire population is already infected at this point, it was too late to stop the outbreak before it even really began. Odd as the TWD crew had no idea until well after the outbreak. You'd think it would have been obvious from the get go.

I thought maybe the angle they were going with was that the virus originated in the drug scene. Something in the drugs. Girl in the church maybe OD'd then turned. His friend who is the dealer, probably used the product and then turned once he was shot.
I dunno if it necessarily means it's already everywhere to begin with. But maybe it already is and you only have to die to turn.
