Foo is a rare exception. He announced he was leaving college in March, but told teams that he wasn't going to pick one until after finishing classes in Union that summer.

By this point if a college free agent hasn't signed it is extremely likely he is gong back to college. Their college teams also need to know relatively quickly so they can start planning for next season.

Or if he can't go back to college now, there isn't enough NHL interest to warrant a NHL contract at this time and he is going to camps hoping to earn one.

The only ones to watch for are the drafted college players whose rights expire this summer and are heading to free agency.

Chase Priskie is probably the most notable. He is one of the highest scoring d-men in the NCAA.

Told the capitals he won't sign. But given these quotes, might be unlikely he considers the Flames, especially in light of the Yelesin signing.

Quote:
“Looking at the big picture, I felt going to free agency would best suit me and help me position myself into a top-6 role in the NHL,” Priskie said. “They’re very deep with great defensive prospects. It was something that I had the option to do, so I decided to go free agency.”

Priskie said Washington maxing out its NHL contracts didn’t bother him.

“That didn’t play into my decision,” Priskie said. “They’re trying to put together the best team to win a Stanley Cup. For me, it was the organization’s depth at D that I thought I could have a better shot playing in the NHL somewhere else.”

Priskie said he’s already begun looking at depth charts around the league.
Flames would have to make some moves and convince him that he would have a good shot at the NHL with them. It sounds like there will be a lot of NHL teams chasing him.
