This. Plus keep in mind that there is already talk of a conservative/Manning Centre/populist/Save Calgary/pro-developer/Rick Bell type of slate coming to the next civic election, and I would guess that these "citizens" will have their fingers deeply into that pie as well. Whatever form the Green Line is in by then, it will be the worst, most expensive thing ever. And whatever they manage to "pause", they'll dance around like our saviours.

It is never too early to start the narrative. And the UCP handcuffing cities recently by cutting funding (and in the future) will also help amplify the discontent with "silly hall" and pave the way for some new faces to come in and "fix it". Farkas for mayor, anyone? (shudder)

Don't get me wrong, the Green Line isn't perfect, and neither is city council (far from it). But we are about to see a new era of partisan civic politics. Maybe a bit off-topic and political, but not too much. The Green Line is already very political.
