I'm having an issue with my home network and was hoping someone here might have some insight into the problem.

Here's my set up:

Internet comes in > Shaw router > Airport Extreme > 24 Port Switch > network ports throughout the house.

All the ports work if they're connected directly to the device (computer, PS3, TV, etc). However, when I make a wired connection to the TimeMachine in my office (which connects to my iMac and external drive) the internet connection slows down and crashes throughout the house (wifi and wired).

Any idea why connecting the TimeMachine would cause this?
