Watched the TSN story this morning, I do not know what to think. Certainly in my mind there were so many unasked questions that I all play a part in Joe Murphy's story. As mentioned earlier, where is his NHL pension? His sister, ex wife and daughter all say they are worried about him but what have they done to help him? Does Joe Murphy want a different life or is he quite happy and content living his life the way he is? And does he want help? And what kind of help?
I ask these questions as I myself am still trying to wrap my head around what depression, anxiety etc... truly are, not to mention to long term effects of prescription and recreational drugs. It also sounds like Joe Murphy has burned many bridges along the way and although that is neither here nor there when it comes to getting "help", it possibly explains why NHL alumni were not reaching out to him prior to this.
