This might be as good a thread as any, but does anyone remember why he retired so young? I know he didn't get along with Terry Crisp but I always thought it was an odd decision and never really understood it.

Retiring at 32-33 we pretty common in those days, so he only retired a couple years earlier than normal (30). Part of it might have been the fact NHL players (especially depth guys like Peplinski) didn't make huge money in those days. So Peplinski may have just wanted to get on with his post-hockey life rather than disrupt his family and move away to chase a couple more years playing in another city.
