Seems like since Backlund, every Swedish forward drafted has been a disaster.
Like in the past, even if they didn’t make the NHL, they would still at least have some nice production in Sweden enough to give us some hope before they flamed out over here, but the recent forwards we draft can’t even produce in Sweden at lower levels now.
We seem to do well with the defensemen though.

Probably because we aren’t drafting them in the first 2-3 rounds..
The talent pool usually drops off significantly in the later rounds.
The last Swedish forward we drafted in the first 3 rounds not named Backlund was LWer Erik Andersson back in 1997.
