This is not about jobs or economic security. Ask Trump, unemployment is extremely low and the stock market is at a record high. He's doing a great job, just ask him.
This is not what got Trump elected either, but it's been discussed ad nauseum in the US Politics thread and I won't go into it more here.
Today was about white people being freaked out that they're losing their stranglehold on power in America. There's a fantastic thread on Twitter that summed it up.

All of that says everything that truly sums up what this current "alt-right" movement is about. It is because these entitled white men are angry because they used to be able to say the n-word in public and now people call them out on it.
There are some economic issues relating to Trump (though they still weren't the main factor in his being elected), but for this demonstration today? This is not economic. This is white supremacists pissed off that people different than them are getting the rights they had all along. That's literally all this is about. They want everyone who isn't a white straight god-fearing person (preferably a man) to stay below them the way they'd been for so many years.
