In 2006 the flames probably would have won the cup. Of all my years as a flames fan, that the 2006 Game 6 and 7 loss was the worst. In 2004, the team had nothing left. In 2009, the flames were destroyed by injuries.

But, in 2006, the flames had no excuses and had as clear a path to the finals as any team could. They were up 3-2 against Anaheim and then would have faced the 8th seed in the quarters, then the 5th seed in the semi-finals before getting a Carolina team in the finals.

So brutal.
