Strange Brew - I second Freaks. Best to go into it blind.
On Star Wars... think of it this way... I'm not a fan of Harry Potter. I think that it's derivative, and cliched, and doesn't make a lot of sense. Kathleen Kennedy did the equivalent of hiring me to write and direct the second to last Harry Potter film. And no matter how good Rian Johnson is otherwise, he deserves to be repeatedly slapped in the face for not recusing himself from making a movie in a franchise that he holds in contempt.
And I'll go ahead and say that JJ Abrams is an underaverage director. And a poor writer. He gets too much credit for writing 17 out of 84 episodes of Felicity, 13 out of 105 episodes of Alias, and 3 out of 118 episodes of Lost. He is not good. I don't understand why he was given the reins to Star Trek and Star Wars.
