I remember the telephone call when I told my mother that her granddaughter was a vegetarian, it took 6 'what, not even chicken?' before the full horror sank in to her.
On a practical note learn to eat and cook east indian, bhalti especially, about the only tolarable vegetarian food in the world, and if you are doing this for your health then continue to eat fish, it is very heart healthy and gives you much of your protein needs.
