If you bought from a reputable dealership then check the documentation you signed. See if there is something like a 6 month warranty included. Many dealerships have something to this effect in their contract for their used inventory outside the extended warranty offering. As well, see what the contract states about the condition of the vehicle when sold. Dealerships typically inspect and fix heavier issues on their trade ins before re-selling them if I recall. They don’t try and mask and sell ‘as is’ like in a private sale.

You can try and sue but that will cost you more than the 50/50 split they’re offering. That said, bring your documentation to a lawyer to best review the contract and see if there’s a breach should you feel the dealership should own full accountability.

Good luck my friend. Sorry this has happened. Buying used from a dealership typically houses a little more trust than a private sale at the time of purchase. I hope you can find resolution to your satisfaction.
