Yes the league makes money.
But fan interest in many of the have not markets fluctuates based on where the team is in their cycle.
Cycles are natural part of sports, but they are amplified in MLB because of the competitive inequality.
I personally think that hard cap/parity leagues are boring. MLB balance is pretty good IMO. I hate the Yankees, but enjoy hating them. The concept of a Yankees would never exist if there league was fully capped from the get go. MLB does enough with revenue sharing and player control to give every team a chance. The cycles are shorter for the big money teams, sure, but I think they should be.

All that said, I think Blue Jay fans have a little more reason for hating the system when they are stuck with both the Red Sox and Yankees in their division.
