He was a very good goalie for Chicago the year before, every bit as good as Crawford.
He's the right height and (now) weight for being a goalie, and is very athletic. He'll be given every chance to earn that contract for Carolina.
While he may be very risky to hit his ceiling, he's lights out better than the other two Carolina options if he in fact does he hit that ceiling.
