I talked to them tonight and it sounds like I might end up going with the Roku. They want the easiest interface (I showed them both and they said the Roku looks easier) and don't really care if they have voice command or if they have to use another remote to control the volume and tv power.

I honestly think we are going straight back to the era where the kids are the best remote. My parents don't use tech because they are worried that they'll break it. It's idiot proof, you can't break it!
