I maintain that they should've passed the torch to new capable writers if they were signing off but instead they selfishly took the fire escape after season 7 on a show that was largely built on a beautifully executed slow-burn approach.
Pieces of crap chased big paydays instead of giving the best work their names have been attached to the wind down it really deserved.
