Mont Surat is fantastic. Navigating the train and ticket situation, not so much. There is a good guide online how to do it. Take the gondola option, it is a bit quicker. My recommendation is to go early, see all the town stuff, then take the first funicular up, then hike to the top. It's more of an easy walk than a real hike. Bring a lunch and a little bottle of wine.
