In any event, while i think it would be a cool arc, I know the creators have said they don't want to have any time travel stuff as it get far too confusing.
I think the inter dimensional stuff is as far as we will see.
It could possibly be one the Rick-Prime's first Mortys. We see in the opening credits when rick jumps in a portal and leaves morty. Perhaps Morty-Prime isnt the first morty for Rick-prime?
