I don't see how this series ends in any other way but tragedy if its allowed to go to its logical end.
In a new hope, there was a desperate rebellion that was on the losing side of things until the destruction of the Death Star.
The Jedi were all but wiped out except for Kenobi and Yoda.
In the clone wars series they really weren't afraid to bring tragic endings to characters, whether via killing them, or making them fall.
I have a feeling that
Spoiler!
Zeb will be the first to go, they really haven't developed him all that well.
I think that Sabine will get sick of the fighting and secrets on both sides and leave.
I think Chopper will survive even though he's really only there as a comedy bit.
I doubt they kill Hera, but I doubt she stays with the rebels.
Kanan simply has to either die or put down his lightsaber and walk away from being a Jedi.
Ezra, is too powerful to survive and he's basically met Yoda. In Empire Strikes back when Yoda alludes to another hope he wasn't talking about Ezra.
Ashoka, I think she does have to die at the hands of her master, they can even make it emotional. After Vader strikes her down in fury, he stands over her watching her die and he whispers "I'm sorry". That way we can still see the bit of "good" in Vader.
What I'd like to see in the last episode is the final confrontation between Vader, Ezra and Kanan. Its a lot tougher this time, but eventually Vader stabs Kanan through the heart killing him, Ezra screams with a fury and attacks Vader with a rage, but Vader holds him off and tells him that there is another way to gain revenge.
The last scene we see Ezra on the bridge of a star destroyer staring out of the window, wearing a black robe.
Then he melts Chopper down into a commemorative coin
