Calgary was in a deep freeze that week.
The week started with highs in the -20s, but the long term forecast showed a steady climb that culminated in -1 for gameday before dropping back down. [insert Rick Mercer’s +1 weather network forecast video here].
The temperatures did climb and I think got to -4 on game day. -8 rings a bell for gametime.
Still could have been much much worse. I remember dressing warm enough except my extremities, which froze.
Thankfully the Flames offered lots to cheer about. This game probably salvaged Bourques legacy from becoming the most useless overpaid bum in Flames History.
