I'm late to the party on this one but I picked up the first trade of Gotham Central for $5 and it's the best $5 I've spent in a long time. What a great first 10 issues. I've always loved Brubaker's stuff (Winter Soldier, Daredevil, Criminal, all his pulp stuff) but this is such a great take on the world of Gotham city.
If you're looking for an excellent, self-contained 40 issues of something in the DC, you won't go wrong with this.
This is what we were supposed to get with Gotham but Warner wanted to add kid Bruce Wayne and neutered the whole project.
