It is a rare goalie that is NHL-ready the season after the draft. I can't think of any off-hand that made the jump right away. Other than that, some make it in after a few seasons, others bounce around and finally make it in the late 20's.
For me, there is no timeline for any of the goalie prospects. When they get a chance, they will either sink or swim. I do think that both Rittich and Gillies have shown quite a lot thus far to make me think that with additional development, either one of them COULD end up being a starter, but I think either of them already make for a decent enough back-up.
Parsons - and even MacDonald and Schneider - might end up making it themselves. I don't count anyone out at this point, even if they have looked really shaky. They may not make it in the Flames' organization, but given enough development time, who really knows?
I would bet that Parsons eventually does make it. His compete level is just too good. He'll adjust.
