I'm not sure exactly how comparable it is to the USHL or CHL except for that player of a similar age play in those league (U20). A large difference is that teams are are subsidiaries or KHL teams. In that sense it is similar to the U20 programs in the SHL. The MHL is barely a decade old, so how exactly it compares is not concrete.
I terms of Nikolaev's production, his point per game pace is matched by 44 other players. Although it's hard to tell because many of the better players get called up to the VHL. That said, he is currently 18th for goals and 33rd for points ( before today).
