Tootsies is on the main Broadway strip that FLAMESRULE was talking about. While you're there, you can walk to Printer's Alley, it's only 2-3 blocks away.
Broadway is really touristy but great if you like partying and modern country music/80s rock.
East Nashville can be fun but is more hipster/younger person oriented. Take a cab to Five Points and bar hop a little there. Battered N Fried is a great Boston themed seafood and sushi joint.
If you like spicy food, make sure to check out Prince's Hot Chicken in East Nashville and experience Southern fried chicken. Be careful though, their mild is about as hot as a normal place's extra hot.
