When I read the first paragraph (before I saw the posted list), my first thought was "Beyond Possession". And there they are, first band on the list!
Watching Beyond Possession play live shows in the mid-to-late-80's was an absolutely intense experience. Every now and then they'd play a show with SNFU, and the hall/club would damn near explode.
I was a DJ at CJSW when "...Is Beyond Possession" was released, and I remember playing the hell out of it (along with the "Tell Tale Heart" 7"). That album really set the stage for a whole new genre of music... it's too bad Beyond Possession never reaped the benefits of it.
I always got a kick out of running in to Ron at The Record Store on 17th. Ah, memories.
