Why does being in a rough spot that everyone knows is a rough spot constitute a problem? It basically gives you more time to stop sucking before people start thinking you might not be the guy to fix things. Look at the results that coaches like Gase and Patricia had the leeway to post before getting sacked. If no one expects anything, it's a lot easier to exceed those expectations.
