30 years ago CJSW was down in the basement. Now they have a great space on the top floor at Mac Hall.

Volunteers help with all kinds of tasks, depending on your interests and availability.
The most common task is helping with the library - there are over 70,000 items in the library. They are organized by genre and format. We are currently cataloguing every recording in a database. About 100-200 new releases arrive every week, and have to be reviewed, labelled and added to the playlist.
I have worked on the web-site adding events to the calendar.
We get to attend many festivals and events promoting CJSW.
You can learn how to work in the production studio, recording stingers and PSAs.
Many bands come to perform live in the studio.
The Funding Drive is important and requires many volunteers to take pledges on the phone.
Ultimately, volunteers will be trained on production and on-air programming. I'm going through this now. I will likely get to produce some fill-in shows, then eventually host my own show.
It is a great environment with helpful and supportive people. They now have Saturday volunteer hours for those that work Monday to Friday. I look forward to it every week and it is as much fun as you would expect it to be. Great place to meet people with diverse musical tastes. We have so many different shows for different genres and ethnic groups.
