Yes, I do remember when he went by "The Dinger", although I was never a
Sun reader. My first memory of ever having heard of the guy was when he ran for mayor in 1998, on the basis that
somebody had to run against Al Duerr. (Duerr won his fourth and final term with >70% of the vote; "The Dinger" finished somewhere in the single digits.)
