There could have been a payout from the insurance company to Jays to buy out the insurance clause with fear he would never play again due to injury
So while Jays are on the hook for his salary , doesn’t mean they are out that whole amount for sure.
However, with a guy with Tulos past injury history it’s possible it wasn’t even insured
